Do you know people worrying about supervulcano erruptions?

+ Boomer are hotter then millenials: https://doi.org/10.7554/eLife.49555

Cannot speak for the person before, but I gave up on any protection. With 3 children from 3-10 it will catch me anyhow.

And while kids often end up with just headache and slight fever that goes away after a day - adults end with at least proper flu (e.g. higher fever, joints/muscle pain ...) for a week or two.

The tragedy isn’t that we don’t wear masks routinely, it’s that people think they have a right to infect anyone because of their own sense of personal freedom.

Immediately when restrictions ended here, you could be in a large department store or supermarket and hear people coughing badly, or sneezing. If you know you feel under the weather, pop on a mask. But no, “freedom”, “it’s a conspiracy”. I swear “freedom” is just short hand for “I’m an asshole”.

I don't get it. People just hop on public transit and will be coughing every ten seconds. It is a pleasant surprise if they even go as far as coughing into their elbow.

This was always true before covid. Some of us reset our expectations during covid to expect people to be better than before, but many of us apparently didn't, which shouldn't be entirely surprising. It takes a long time to totally change a culture, and a lot of people were very happy to revert to the way things were before.

Reverting back to the way things were when life was simpler doesn't make them bad people, it just makes them human.

I guess for the full medieval experience you walk?!

Lol, you can shitpost anything about any politician in the USA. Hang any flag on your car, house etc. and you will be fine. Try the same in China.

You can shitpost but the algorithm will make sure it doesn't get read :)

Huh? Does that negate the missing democracy, the political distrust and the political censorship within your country?

I am happy for you and your flags.

However I didn't claim that china is more "free" just that the US definitely isn't seen as that from the outside anymore. It's not always a direct competition

I am very happy with your informative comment. Thanks you, you can go on with your life now.

Canon G5 X mark 2 does not seem to be supported by gphoto:

Worth a try compiling a custom version after adding to https://github.com/knro/libgphoto2/blob/master/camlibs/canon... Hopefully it's as easy as that.

I'm able to pipe gphoto2 frames to a pipewire sink or v4l2 device and it works great for making my Canon EOS 250D into a webcam.

problem is peadling, we used some 4 wheel thing to get this going.

Interesting that they don't mention event based sensors at all.

Well big part of the EUV tech used stems from Europe.

False. EUV tech is 100% researched and manufactured in the US.

Edit to answer @ looofooo0: EUV tech comes from Sandia Labs research that ASML licensed, and the EUV light sources (there's no such thing as an EUV laser, the Trmpf is a regular laser firing into tin droplets for EUV generation) are made by Cymer in the US which ASML integrates them into their stepper which is a relative commodity item in comparison to the light-source.

Europe takes credit for ASML we can't do it without them the lions share of the work it takes to make the machines is due to ASML, it would be nice if they had big tech companies of their own. They decline of Europe is already happening the wealthy aren't as greedy there at least not greedy enough to work as hard as the American thus eventually US interests will control Europe.

?? ASML builds the EUV machines in Europe. Zeiss builds the optical compentents in Europe. Trumpf builds ne EUV-Laser in Europe.

Moreover, most of the tech stems from the European-funded EUCLIDES (Extreme UV Concept Lithography Development System) project.

You’re forgetting about 2 decades of US DoE funding of EUV research through EUV-LLC which ASML joined late. A lot of the early groundwork and foundational research was done by DoE including using US built synchrotron accelerators to try out various early approaches.

Yes, I think the route was Soviet Union, Japan, USA, Europe.
