I feel like this article makes a lot of good points, but can easily leave out the section "The politics of labels".

It's trying to draw a political comparison from the dynamic world of human interactions, into the cold deterministic world of software. Sure there are social issues with multiple people touching and writing code, and the different conventions they use in languages that do not guarantee a high degree of type safety, but that paragraph/section doesn't do a good job at all of bridging that connection.

Still and interesting read though.
