Godot org under DDoS attack (godotengine.org)

What is the win for a group to organize this? Is it an advertisement of capabilities to be sold? Training exercise?

Or is it so trivial to accomplish that a dedicated troll does it for the lulz? Given modern hardware I am flabbergasted at how often sites get hammered from legitimate traffic.

Regarding the win, they are asking for $5000 https://twitter.com/emi_cpl/status/1745193283620372788?t=xTu...

Doesn't look like a DDoS according to the attacker's email, but rather a DoS / p0wning. Anyway looks like it's working again.

Apparently some DDoS attacks are not cheap to accomplish because they need to use botnets, the more devices involved, the more money is needed.

Waiting for Godot

Man, how long have you been waiting to use this pun? Love it :-)

forever :)

Is there a trend of testing DDoS methods on FOSS websites now? Blender also had a DDoS attack in the last months.

Probably these are easier to attack since they have less resources available to invest in infrastructure, but still have a harmful impact.

Not to mention they tend to avoid using CDNs, which alongside lack of free accessible CAPTCHA software, remain to be issues no one in FOSS circles seems to be concerned about.

Easy targets, I guess. Gotta be tougher to expect any $$$ out of them, though!
